About (alexa)
That’s me, tip toeing across the top of Death Valley over there.
While I’m generally not a huge fan of tooting my own horn, you probably want to know who the heck is behind this website. So if you scroll below, you’ll find a small snippet about what compels me to exit the bed in the morning.
I’m Alexa
Spend five minutes Googling wedding photographers, and you’ll quickly realize there are a lot of folks out there who (kind of) do what I do. So, I wanted to share a little more about myself—which feels nearly impossible through the barrier of this screen—but here’s my best attempt to chuck some flamin’ balls of honesty your way 😎.
I’m Alexa—artist, traveler, thru-hiker, seamstress, self proclaimed chef, wedding photographer since 2018, and married to my husband of the year, Alex. We have very similar names, but don’t let let that fool you—we’re very different people and nothing highlights that more than getting hitched (which we did at Eilean Shona in Scotland).
We live in Maggie Valley, just outside of Asheville, NC. After three years of full-time living in a Sprinter van and traveling the U.S. and beyond, we’ve settled down in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Even though our home isn’t on 4 wheels anymore, movement is and always will be a huge part of our lives—which pairs perfectly with our dog, Ranger, who strongly approves.
If you value quality over quantity, savoring the beauty of slowing down, appreciate the unique characteristics of film wedding photography, and treasure quality time spent with your favorite people—then odds are, we’ll get along just peachy. And if you just read all of this and found yourself wanting to learn more about what goes in to Superlove, keep on scrolling down or visit the Pricing & Process page.
Toodaloo!
Alexa
Lead photographer & Filmmaker
Life should be colorfully remembered in walls of paragraphs and mountains of photographs. So young me, from a little town in North Carolina, decided to be an artist when I got older. My humble beginnings in the art world began as an art student, then art museum docent, and finally art gallery curator. But when I picked up a camera, I quickly ditched the traditional art world as I knew it. Photography fast-tracked my life to where I am today. Six years and countless weddings later, it led me to the love of my life - see right. Now I document weddings and intimate portraits/landscapes for my personal artwork. All things art aside, you can usually find me shamelessly reading a smutty book, cooking Filipino food (chicken adobo YUM), pressing flowers, knitting, sewing my dream wardrobe (I made my wedding dress!), or going for a walk with my little family. I’d love to talk your ears off about any of the topics above.

Greetings! I was going to try to convince you here that I’m a real and qualified person to document your wedding (this website does the heavy lifting on qualifications), but instead of harping on that I reckon this should be personal. I grew up in the midwest and swiftly decided as an adult that I’d rather travel and see more of the world. I’ve spent the last decade and a half creating things; playing guitar for Disney World shows in the parks, working as a creative director for software/app companies, and documenting ragin’ weddings all over the world. I’ve been told I’m “multihyphenate” in my interests, which I guess is a compliment? Anyway, I just like a lot of things. Alexa tells me I’m the extroverted glue in social settings. Naturally, I’m excited to meet you 👋🏻
And Ranger, of course
hi i’m ranger! i’m a Mudi but i don’t know what that means. i love running, digging, swimming, cuddling, running, running, talking, and running all at the same time. i’ll show you the tricks i know if you give me cheese or a ball but not peanut butter GROSS. if you don’t touch my butt i will hit you with it or sit on you. my butt is my favorite. my farts can peel paint and i’m not sorry. my favorite places are the oregon coast, north cascades, and grandma’s house. i love living in the go-go box because i get to explore new places. i signed my parent’s marriage license in colorado. i’m just as sweet as i am hyper and i love you already. scratch my butt please.
values
creativity
If you’re coming to me for this style of work, then thanks! I care about that. Every dazzling human I work with deserves the very best ideas and creative efforts.
Analog
I shoot both photo and Super 8 video using film cameras because it’s the closest thing to, well… the real thing. Despite efforts to imitate these intangible qualities on digital, it’s just never been the same. Your moments are best immortalized on rolls of yummy film.
Care
Kicking ass at this craft doesn’t only mean being creative (although I love that part); it also means being available, thoughtful, and responsive from start to finish. It’s what I would want for myself, so that’s what I do for you.
ADAPTABILITY
To me, this means going with the flow and being attentive. Part of being a trustworthy partner means being a journalist, in a way. Life happens, stuff changes, and documentation should never get in the way of that.
Our life
(Cosmically)
For the past three years, my husband and I have been traveling the US in our converted sprinter. While we’re not “those people” on YouTube who document it all, it’s a life we enjoy to the brim simply because we like it.
Today, we’ve settled down in the Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Asheville, NC. So even though my house isn’t on 4 wheels anymore, movement is still very much a part of my life—aka, I’ll haul my ass to wherever you are. Travel is always included, so unless it’s an extenuating circumstance you can bet your lil’ tush I’ll be there.
